Disruptive Rain Flooding of settlements (formal/informal), roads, and bridges. Damage to infrastructure Difficult and dangerous driving conditions due to slippery roads and reduced visibility. Some areas could be cut-off due to flooded roads. Disruption to livelihoods. Danger to life. Listen for regular weather updates via radio and/or social media. Postpone travel arrangements until it is safer to travel. Avoid crossing rivers and swollen streams whether driving or on foot. Monitor the weather conditions and if need be identify areas to safely store valuable items from flood water.

Disruptive Snow The snowfall (and/or high accumulations) is expected to result in: Danger to life. Loss of livestock and crops. Communities inaccessible and may be cut-off. Dangerous and difficult driving conditions. Roads affected due to high accumulations and/or rockfalls. Pass closures (i.e Barkley Pass, Naudes Nek Pass, Jouberts Pass, Bottlenek Pass and etc). Disruptions to some services. Do proper planning to avoid loss of life. Inform initiates and families and make an informed decision. Avoid traveling if its possible. Monitor the forecast and phone the South African Weather Service when in doubt.
